COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course introduces the core analytical techniques used to extract meaning from spatial data and support real-world decision-making. Participants will learn how to apply fundamental geoprocessing tools, perform buffer and overlay analyses, build data relationships, and work with surface and raster data.
The course covers geoprocessing operations (clip, merge, dissolve, erase), buffer and overlay analysis, spatial and attribute joins, interpolation methods, and spatial statistical tools such as mean center and hot-spot analysis. By the end of the course, learners will be able to design and execute GIS analyses to answer geographic questions effectively.
You will learn to:
-
Use core geoprocessing tools for vector data
-
Perform buffer and overlay analyses
-
Create joins, relates, and spatial relationships
-
Conduct surface analysis and interpolation
-
Apply basic spatial statistics
Level: Intermediate – prior familiarity with GIS software is recommended
